Drew's Tip of the Month...It Fits Like a Glove:

Do you wear a golf glove? Have you noticed wear marks on the glove in the same place over and over? The heel pad wears away, or the base of the thumb has a hole in it or worse, you destroy your new glove after just a round or two.

To preserve your new purchase, the first place to check is the grip cap or the end of the grip. Is the grip cap slightly outside your hand? If the end of the grip is inside the palm, any off-center ball contact will cause the grip to twist within the palm causing wear marks. Also, holding the grip too much in the palm not only reduces your ability to hinge your wrist but also places the butt pad (the fleshy pad below the little finger just above the wrist) of your hand on the side of the grip instead of on top of the grip, putting the glove in a vulnerable position to tear. Loosening the grip of your fingers at the top of your swing and regripping on the way down is another symptom that causes wear and tear.

The golf club should be held mainly in the fingers of both hands with the butt pad of your glove hand on top of the grip of the club. Be as firm as you like with the last three fingers of your left hand and the middle two of your right hand. However, the thumbs and index fingers of both hands must remain very soft, allowing the wrists to act as a “free hinge”, giving you strong fingers/flexible wrists and a glove that will last for many rounds.  Hopefully, you find this tip comes in handy.  Keep Swinging!
