Father’s Day Sunday June 21st, Links Memberships are still available.

The perfect gift to give Dad as he enjoys the final round of the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club.

With summer coming, what better way to tell Dad how much you care? We offer the most competitive packages in the region: Family ($900) and Individual ($600, discounted $50 if age 65+, college, or US military). Junior memberships are also available to play with Dad ($215), A fantastic value on a course where Dad can play a round in a timely fashion.

Drew’s Tip of the Month

It is often said that a good putter is match for anyone, a bad putter is a match for no one. Good putters do things that the average golfer often neglects…

  • Good putters begin to gauge the slope of the green well before they step onto it. They get a general idea of the surface’s undulation while they are standing back in the fairway.

  • Good putters will watch everyone in the group putt, noticing the ball’s speed and curvature which they can then factor into their own putt.

  • Good putters put a premium on speed (distance) over line (aim). They first look to see if their putt is uphill, downhill or level before they look at the break from left to right. Speed determines line not the other way around.

  • Good putters quiet their mind…that little internal voice that we all have and putt with their eyes, trusting and turning the controls over to their brain’s automaticity.

  • Good putters take one last look at their target and begin their stroke within a second of returning to the ball while their distance to the target is still fresh in their mind’s eye. The longer you wait to start your stroke, the quicker the target begins to disappear. Remember, eyes on the ball mind on the target.

  • Good putters practice, especially to different targets, not the same one over and over.

  • Good putters are interested in becoming better putters.

Keep Swinging!

They Said It

"Anyone who hopes to reduce putting-or any other department of the game of golf for that matter-to an exact science, is in for a serious disappointment, and will only suffer from the attempt. It is wholly a matter of touch, the ability to gauge a slope accurately, and most important of all, the ability to concentrate on the problem at hand, that of getting the ball into the hole and nothing more."

-Bob Jones, Winner of all four of Golf’s Major Championships in 1930
