A FREE and New Tool in Managing Pace of Play
Mass Golf wants to introduce you to a new and powerful tool in your arsenal: the USGA’s “Best Tees” system. The USGA’s “Best Tees” system is a program designed to help golfers select the most appropriate set of tees for their game by using their average 7-iron distance as a primary metric.
This system aims to ensure golfers are playing from tees that allow them to comfortably reach fairways on par-4s and par-5s and reach the vicinity of greens in regulation, promoting a more enjoyable and potentially faster-paced round. As a member of the Club Partner Program, you can have a chart developed for your course. Both the Club Partner Program and the Best Tees chart are free of charge to Mass Golf Member Clubs.
Mass Golf's new Club Partner Program is designed to ensure that each Member Club can take full advantage of Mass Golf services, programs and resources, as well as making Mass Golf aware of challenges that clubs are facing so we can proactively support our Member Clubs.
Ever wonder how handicap strokes are determined? In this fourth edition of Inside Course Rating with Tom Giffin, our Manager of Course Rating and Services, you'll learn all about Stroke Allocation, who determines them, and recommendations when assigning allocations. If your course has any question regarding Course Rating, Tom can be reached via email at tgiffin@massgolf.org.
With our commitment to growing the game and continuously improving our offerings, we find it necessary to make an adjustment to the annual Mass Golf/GHIN Membership fees.
Effective for the 2026 season and starting November 1st, the annual Mass Golf/GHIN Membership fees will increase from $35 to $40 per member golfer. We are pleased to confirm that junior golfers (under the age of 19) will continue to be free of charge, reinforcing our dedication to nurturing the next generation of golfers.
Youth on Course supporters from across the country become “Hikers” and take on the formidable challenge of playing (and walking!) 100 holes of golf in one day, all in an effort to help ensure young people have affordable access to golf and the life-changing opportunities that come with playing the sport. Consider donating to the Mass Golf Hike Team to support $5 rounds for youth in our state.
