Drew's Tip Of The Month
You might say that you don’t have time to practice, but practicing the following drill only five minutes each day, which does not require you to hit golf balls, will do wonders for your game.
The quickest way to better scores is to improve center contact. Take two golf tees, stick them in the ground a little wider than the width of your clubhead. Practice swinging through “the tee gate” without hitting either tee. Start with shorter, slower swings at first and gradually lengthen and increase the speed of your swing. If you hit either tee, go back to shorter, slower sings until you are successful. If you can do that, you will find the center of the clubface more often. If you can make centered contact and brush the grass on the forward side of the gate, then you will become a really good ball striker.
Keep Swinging!
Did You Know?...
In cooler weather, a golf ball will travel shorter distances for two reasons. First, when golf balls and golf clubs are cool, the energy transfer is less efficient, resulting in a slower ball speed. Second, because colder air is more dense than warm air, friction and drag are increased. Wearing extra layers of clothing doesn’t help your range of motion or swing speed either. So, when the weather gets colder, just use more club. Instead of an 8-iron, use a 7-iron, or if it is really cold try a 6-iron. It is all about predicting outcome.
Quote Of The Month
"I’ve never played a perfect 18 holes. There is no such thing. I expect to make at least seven mistakes a round. Therefore, when I make a bad shot, I don’t worry about it. It’s just one of the seven." - Walter Hagen, 11-time major champion
