Welcome to the 2026 Golf Season at The Links

Each spring as the cold weather becomes a distant memory and a warm breeze blows gently across our cheek, our thoughts return to getting back outside and recapturing the hope of longer drives, well struck irons and putts dropping from far away.  This year was different from the past few with the amount of snow and the challenges brought by the extremely cold weather.  With spring just around the corner, soon it will be time to get outside in the fresh air, blue skies, among the oaks, pines, and maples, on the fresh cut grass and play the game that we all love with our family and friends.  Welcome to the 2026 Golf Season!

Links Hours of Operation Beginning March 15th Through April 30th

Depending on the weather and course conditions, The Links will open for play every day at 8:00am beginning March 15th. Tee times are still required, with the last tee time at approximately 6:00pm. Members of The Links can book their tee times ten day in advance, non-members five days in advance by calling 508-222-0555.

The Golf Zone Simulators will open daily at 8:30am.

For more information visit our website at LinksatMassGolf.org.

Drew’s Tip of the Month

How Low Can You Go?

The design of the golf club dictates that the grip end should be ahead of the clubhead at impact, with a forward leaning shaft.  This helps you put pressure into the ball to achieve maximum distance.  Legendary Ball-Striker Ben Hogan said, “that’s why you marvel at the distance top-notch players can hit the ball.  They actually turn a five-iron into a four-iron.  The average golfer does just the opposite.  He increases the loft of the blade (clubhead before the grip).  He makes a 7-iron out of a 5-iron.”

Famous golf instructor Harvey Penick, author of The Little Red Book (the best-selling golf book) would give chipping lessons by having his students use their most lofted club and chip under a picnic bench that was set a few feet in front of the golfer.  The golfers often thought Penick wanted them to chip it over the bench, but that wasn’t the case.  He wanted his students to use the club the way it was designed to be used.

Your intention should be to hit every shot solid and low or lower than you normally would.  This includes your wedges. They won’t go as low as you think they will, but they will go farther and won’t that be nice to start the new year.

Remember, to adjust your distances accordingly and Keep Swinging.
