If you have an interest in helping out, please contact PGA Golf Professional Drew Chapman: dchapman@massgolf.org. View Calendar Drew’s Tip of the Month: "The Inside Secret"  If you are a golfer that has been told that you are coming over the top and your divots point well left of your target and you pull your short irons and slice your longer clubs, a simple but effect cure is one that I got from legendary golf instructor Harvey Penick years ago. Mr. Penick wants you to imagine that there is a line of barbed wire that starts from far behind your ball and goes all the way to your target. The wire is a few inches off the ground and passes directly over your ball.To hit your ball without scratching your club, you must stay down, swing down from inside to along the line and back inside again, avoiding an outside-in swing path and the wire. During a lesson, I often have students struggling with this issue swing under a pool noodle or at least attempt to. I have many broken noodles. I will hold one end of the pool noodle an inch behind the ball and about six inches above the ball with the other end on the ground, both ends along the target line. The pool noodle won’t scratch your club, but it does give you instant feedback. You can practice this by yourself if you get a driveway stake and stick it through the noodle into the ground at the same angle as described. Practice this first at half speed. Once you can consistently miss the noodle, gradually pick up your speed. Practice this over and over or should I say “under and under” and you will be on the path to good golf.      Keep Swinging! — They Said It “The point is that it doesn’t matter if you look like a beast before or after the hit, as long as you look like a beauty at the moment of impact”. -Seve Ballesteros, European Golfing Legend   Contact Us Drew Chapman - Head Golf Professional P: 508-222-0555 \| dchapman@massgolf.org The Links At Mass Golf, 300 W Main St, Norton, MA 02766 Manage preferences |
